What is the G8?

The G8, or the ‘Group of Eight’ Summit is an annual gathering of leaders from the world’s eight wealthiest countries (Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the United Kingdom and the United States).

In 2009 the meeting will be held from July 8 to 10 in Italy. Global poverty and development and climate change will be high on the agenda to be discussed in Italy.

In 2010 the G8 Summit will be held in Canada in Huntsville, Ontario from June 25, 26 and 27.
