We are living at a unique time in history. Never before has our human capacity to end poverty been greater. We have the money, the technology, and the resources to do so. We lack only the political will to take advantage of this capacity for the good of all people.
But we can generate the political will needed to see poverty alleviated, and our promises to the poor kept. On September 18th, join other teachers, students, faith communities, activists, families, and more to OutRun Poverty, and send a clear message to our politicians about our commitment to poverty alleviation. In doing so you will standing alongside thousands of others globally who are standing up, and calling on our collective governments to take action.
Register Early!
Register by September 13th and the first 200 people will get a free Make Poverty History whiteband on the day of the race. There’s more! The first 75 people to register will get their names put in a draw for a gift package from Bridgehead.

What is OutRun Poverty?
OutRun Poverty is a family-friendly 5k fun run and community fair hosted by Micah Challenge and Make Poverty History. In addition to a beautiful run along Colonel By Drive, it will feature dynamic speakers, fun activities for all ages, a poverty awareness and education tent, and refreshments.
The Power of Community: Outrun Poverty Teams
Desmond Tutu once said, “If everyone who wants to see an end to poverty, hunger and suffering speaks out at the same time, the noise will be deafening. Politicians will have to listen." He was convinced that if individuals came together behind the same message, those with decision-making power would not be able to ignore that message. We believe the same is true. For that reason, we are encouraging participants to gather their colleagues, fellow students, fellow faith-community members, and family to form a team to participate in OutRun Poverty. Forming a team will not only allow you to celebrate the day with friends and family, but begin to create a community of people committed to ending poverty that you can continue to work with and learn with. Teams are encouraged to dress up, and make some noise together while they run, walk, and participate in this event. Individuals are also more than welcome to attend, participate, and connect with other like-minded anti-poverty advocates. We encourage you, though, to use this event as an opportunity to invite those in your community to join you in sending a message to our leaders.
