Get to the Point

Online donations from hundreds of Make Poverty History supporters enabled us to buy time on CTV and CTV News Net to communicate the message to over three million viewers across Canada that global poverty matters during the last few days of the recent federal election.

This is our 30 second advertisement, a volunteer effort created by the TAXI advertising firm to promote the 'Let's Get to the Point' campaign.

The ad features Feist, Sarah McLachlan, Jann Arden, Chantal Kreviazuk, Suzie McNeil, K-OS, Billy Talent, George Stroumboulopoulos, Tom Cochrane, Sam Roberts, and Gord Downie

'The point' is that Canada needs to give more in foreign aid. Canada has promised in the past to increase our foreign aid to point seven per cent of our national income, a level agreed upon by donor nations and the UN as necessary to make serious progress towards alleviating extreme poverty in the world. Canada needs to commit to giving 0.7% of our income in foreign aid now
