If you live in British Columbia, you have an excellent opportunity to help make poverty history. The province is having an election on May 12th - and you can help push the party leaders to commit to a poverty reduction strategy for the province.

Take action now to send a message to all the provincial party leaders asking them to commit by April 28th to a poverty reduction plan for BC.

Online donations from hundreds of Make Poverty History supporters enabled us to buy time on CTV and CTV News Net to communicate the message to over three million viewers across Canada that global poverty matters during the last few days of the recent federal election.

Thirty eight days ago we set out to make poverty an election issue in this campaign, and we met with some success.

The following points were the highlights of the campaign for us, times when Canadian voters and politicians heard about poverty issues in Canada and around the world, and worked to do something to make poverty history.

During the English language leaders debate, on Thursday October 2nd, poverty was mentioned several times, as well as two leaders mentioning the Make Poverty History campaign by name.


We have launched the 'Vote to Make Poverty History' campaign with the goal of making poverty an issue that the candidates and parties address in the next five weeks.
