As a constituent in your riding, I would like to urge you to push the Canadian government to play a leadership role at the G8 meeting this summer in Italy.

Canada can show this leadership by encouraging the G8 members to honour their previous commitments to provide Education for All.

Specifically, I would like to see Canada encourage all G8 countries to:

Provide their fair share of the $11 billion annual funding required to reach the Education for All goals.

Renew their commitments to the Millennium Development Goals, including Millenium Development Goal 2 that speaks to education and literacy, and the full Education for All Agenda that supports early childhood education, universal primary education, youth and adult literacy, and lifelong, non-formal learning. I understand that you have been invited to a breakfast for Members of Parliament hosted by the Canadian Teachers Federation and the Canadian Global Campaign for Education.
