Water not Recognized as Human Right

Story: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2009/03/22/water-forum.html

The fifth World Water Forum, held every three years, concluded on Sunday in Istanbul with a statement recognizing water as a basic human need, but not a human right.

Frustrated with the lack of results, twenty countries issued their own declaration that defined safe drinking water as a human right. This attempt was blocked by Brazil, Egypt and the United States.

The UN estimates that more than a billion people worldwide lack access ro safe drinking water, and 2.5 billion are without water for sanitation.
